About the author

Gen. Stanley McChrystal is a retired four-star Army General with a remarkable record of achievement, best known for developing and implementing the counter-insurgency strategy in Afghanistan and creating a comprehensive counter-terrorism organization. He graduated from West Point in 1976 and held leadership and staff positions in the Army Special Forces, Army Rangers, 82nd Airborne Division, and the Joint Staff.
